This week is National Volunteer week and my good friends at The Taproot Foundation have just put out a children’s book about the value of pro bono work.
The post talks about ways to get the most from time off to volunteer benefits—promote the benefits and encourage pro bono projects that use employees’ professional skills and are linked to learning and development.
I know from my personal experience, pro bono work is one of the most valuable ways to learn and grow as a professional. I started volunteering for the Taproot Foundation in 2002 and since then, I’ve been hooked. Having the flexibility now to do as much pro bono work as I can manage is one of the best rewards of having a small business!
I was absolutely delighted that the Benefits Buzz article was picked up by SmartBrief as well as Workforce for their email newsletters.
Be sure to check out Mommy & Daddy Do it Pro Bono, and order one for friends and colleagues!
