Isabelle and Jen share some big news.
“... a good business enhances the lives of all who work within it, and enriches the lives of all those who are touched by it.”–Paul Hawken, author, Growing a Business
This is a quote I’ve reflected on a lot during the last 12+ years while growing Benz Communications. As a small business owner, it’s a motivating and aspirational directive, and it captures so much of what’s special about working in employee benefits and HR.
Employers and other plan sponsors have a unique role in the lives of their people. They have access and influence that few others have in our culture. As such, they can and should be stewards of their people, helping them succeed today and into the future. And they can help improve the lives of their people in extraordinary ways.
That belief has motivated us and our team for more than a decade, and it is one of many reasons we are excited to announce that our team has expanded!
We are absolutely delighted to share that we have joined forces with The Segal Group, the largest and oldest privately held employee benefits and HR consulting firm in the U.S. Segal has a fantastic communications group that’s about the same size as ours. Together, we are a 58-person team, helping a remarkable group of organizations create truly meaningful outcomes for their people. Our clients include leading high-tech companies, financial services, health care organizations, universities and colleges, public-sector employers, professional sports leagues, and multiemployer trusts.
I am leading our new group, called Segal Benz, with my longtime business partner Isabelle. We’ve brought all our team members and clients to the group, as has Segal. We’re thrilled to be able to offer more resources and capabilities—including personalized communications—to an even bigger and more diverse group of clients.
We’ve been honored to work with our clients and to have a voice in the industry. We’re so proud to take this next big step with Segal, and we look forward to continuing to share our ideas with you.
Below, you’ll find more details about the news and our combined group. Thank you for your support and for being part of our community!
The Segal Group and Benz Communications have joined forces to expand both firms’ leading benefits and HR communication work. The Segal Group is the largest and oldest privately held employee benefits and HR consulting firm in the U.S. Benz Communications is a nationally recognized HR/benefits communications agency and one of the largest women-owned firms in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The new group, called Segal Benz, combines the expertise and resources of both firms, with 58 team members and headquarters in New York and San Francisco. The group will serve clients across the U.S. and around the world.
We serve a diverse group of organizations, yet there’s one thing all our clients have in common: the desire to engage and inspire their people around the topics that matter most. Whether you’re from a corporation, a public employer, a University system, a hospital network, or a multiemployer trust fund, you have important messages to convey and actions you want and need your people to take. We have the experts to support you.
By joining Segal, we are able to expand into 2 important areas—personalized communications and compliance. We now provide personalized statements for total rewards, retirement programs, health benefits, executive portfolios, and more. Plus, we have a team of masterful SPD and plan document writers.
We continue to support our clients with all their benefits and HR communications needs, from strategy to year-round engagement. This includes rigorous strategy and planning work, branding, creating custom websites and portals, developing employee surveys and leading focus groups, managing vendor communications, and creating and deploying communications across every channel. We’re always experimenting with new channels and perfecting the traditional ones.
As a leading HR and benefits consulting firm, the Segal Group provides trusted advice that improves lives. As an employee-focused and employee-owned firm, it focuses on creating a workplace that supports its team in the same way we do.
The firm was founded in 1939 as the Martin E. Segal Company. Throughout its history, Segal has helped organizations explain and promote health benefits, retirement plans, insurance programs, compensation, financial services, and other human resources programs. Many widely accepted benefit practices are innovations that were first conceived, designed, and introduced by Segal.
Today, the company provides employee benefits and human resources consulting on the full range of health, retirement, and human resources-related issues for multiemployer, corporate, nonprofit, and public-sector clients. Segal is unique in its field as a result of its deep expertise in 4 distinct markets: corporate, nonprofit, multiemployer, and public sector (local, state, and federal governments and other public-sector entities).
The Segal Group has just over 1,000 employees in 25 cities in the U.S. and Canada. The Segal Group includes Segal Consulting, Sibson Consulting, Segal Marco Advisors, and Segal Select Insurance.
