If you’re pregnant, you already know how easy it can be to become overwhelmed with information on everything from nutrition to breastfeeding to choosing the right name. It’s easy to get lost in a clutter of pregnancy books and websites. And it’s scary to need critical information at the right time – and not know where to find it.
A new free service for expecting and new mothers is cutting through the clutter and delivering the right information when a mother needs it most. Text4Baby was launched in February and already boasts 105,000 subscribers. It’s on a mission to reach 1 million mothers by 2012 and is being supported by the White House, Johnson and Johnson and several mobile technology corporations.
“The news is filtered by what’s happening that day,” said Judy Meehan, CEO of National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB), which started the program to assist underserved communities. “Text4babies is really filtered for moms.”
